During our June meeting we talked about an upcoming opportunity to have a charm pack swap. This swap is being hosted by our president Sarah Busing.
Here is how it works.
-Bring in one yard of fabric which works with the following, attached color palette. Remember that we are cutting charms (5x5 inches) so the scale of print should be considered.
-email or text Sarah Busing (sarahbusi...Read Full Post »

Hey all ,
I know I'm busy with all my to do lists today, how about you? We are about 4 days away from Quilt Con 2016 in Pasadena and the pressure is on! I spent last night prepping my fabrics, double checking my supply lists, and playing mental tetris about how I can fit all my supplies in a suitcase and still have room for more shopping. Today is all about finishing up my real life "to do" list so I can jet off to Pasadena guilt free (and laundry. Because clothes are re...Read Full Post »

I know you have been waiting patiently
to bring the 80's back for more information about the proposed Pantone Color of the Year challenge. I will admit, I am a fan of this combo. Maybe it's because I was too young in the 80's to have been really been scared by the overabundance of this combo. Maybe I only fondly remember my mothers obsession with mauve and cornflower blue and all the geese in bonnets that went along with it. I wanted to propose this as a ...

As of January 2015, the Sacramento Modern Quilt Guild will join the National Modern Quilt Guild. As a result, our membership structure will be changing slightly. We have big plans for our guild! We already have some workshops and lectures in the works. A field trip is also on deck for January. We'd love to have you join us.
In order to be able to offer these types of activities, we will begin charging yearly dues and asking members to fill out out a brief information form.

We're so excited! We were able to get Weeks Ringle to come present next April! We're partnering with Cloth Carousel, an awesome quilt shop in Winters, just 30 miles from Sacramento. It may be a little bit of a trek but the drive is gorgeous and it's totally worth it to also visit Cloth Carousel. They have a great selection of fabrics and the women that work there are all so nice and knowledgeable.

If our guild decides to join as an affiliate guild of the Modern Quilt Guild, we’ll need to establish formal by-laws for our group. We’ve drafted a starting point for a potential new guild. We’ve tried to preserve aspects of our current group that seem to resonate with everyone and keep this document as straight forward as possible.
As we make our decisions on whether to join, these by-laws may give you an idea of what a new guild could look like. If you’re ...Read Full Post »

If you were at our July meeting, you know that our Guild Challenge was a rousing success! So successful that we've decided to do it again. Our August Block challenge was inspired by Maureen.
This month's guildines? Three words: WONKY LOG CABIN
Using a variety of prints and solids in any colors, create a wonky log cabin block.
Make at least one 12.5in x 12.5in unfinished block. Make more if you're feeling inspired.

We had a great meeting in April with lots of conversation on where we’d like our guild to go. We discussed what people like about our current group (great supportive casual atmosphere) and what some would like to see for the future (more discussion that gets those creative juices flowing). In the next couple months, we’ll be exploring some changes while still preserving the camaraderie that we all love.
Kathryn asked us all to share our favorite threads during...Read Full Post »
