Library Book Photos Posted

Currently there are nine books in the Sacramento Modern Quilt Guild Library. Most of them are about Modern Quilting. The books are available to check out for two months at a time. Delores and I are the guild librarians. Please see one of us at a meeting about checking out or reserving a book.

I just posted photos of our books to an album called Library. By viewing an individual book, you can see its status: Available, Reserved or Checked out/Due ____. As new books are added, I'll post them to the album. Here's a quick link to all of the Photo Albums:

Please help build our library by donating books. Thanks!

Library Books Missing

Posted by Debbie Allred on May 12, 2012 at 3:45 PM Comments comments (2)

There are a few books missing from the SMQG Library. They are miscellaneous quilting books, not Modern Quilting. I donated the books when the library was formed, but have not seen any of them for a few months. To my knowledge none of the books were ever checked out, but may have gone home with someone inadvertently (stow-aways). :)

Please check around to see if any of the books went home with you. If found, please return to me or Delores at the next meeting. Thanks so much for looking.

Annoying SPAMer out there

This post is for you. Thanks so much for SPAMing our website. I really enjoyed deleting your posts. I tried to ignore you and I hoped you would get the idea since your posts were delete in a couple hours. However, since you were so rude to come back again I have now password protected our forum. Members will now need to sign in. By the way SPAMer, if you sign up for another account, I will delete that too, like I did the last one.

Side note to members... if you see a spam on anyone of your pages or in the forum or on the blog please let me know right away so I can take care of it. That includes a SPAMer who tries to make up a real name and posts anything that is completely in appropriate. It will be very obvious since we all go to meetings and any comments that are not quilt related kind of stick out like a sore thumb.

Modern Quilting Challenges

Posted by Jenniffier on February 16, 2011 at 11:53 PM Comments comments (0)

I know everyone likes a challenge. At the last meeting we decided on the February Challenge. We decided on doing a Doll Quilt Challenge. I borrowed most of the guidelines from the flickr doll swap 10. Then added in some of the other important info.

Doll Quilt Contest Guidelines:

Size: from 12X12 to 24X24... any size or shape in between.

Materials: natural fibers (cotton, wool, linen)

Construction: Pieced, appliquéd, wholecloth, or yo-yo; quilted by hand or machine; and bound.

We decided that it would be fun to have a winner. So we will be collecting a five dollar entrance fee, which will then go to purchase the prize for the winner; in the form of a gift card to a fabric store. If we have enough entries we may even have more than one winner.

Voting will take place at the March meeting. Top 3 quilts will be voted on the website. Then winner will be announce at the April meeting and will receive the prize at that meeting.

You do not have to present at either meeting to enter or win. However, all quilts must be turned in by the March 12th meeting. If you are unable to make the meeting to turn in your doll quilt please contact me. Also the winner must collect their prize before the May meeting or the second runner up will be awarded the prize.

Another challenge going on right now is the

Read more about it over at Project Modern. The contest deadline is March 31, 2011.

Facebook and SMQG

Has signing in to SMQG website using facebook not been working for you?

Well it wasn't for me either. I actually had time to figure it out. It turns out the facebook sign in is connected to the website address. So I created a new app and all is better :) All that means is if you want to use your face book sign in you will have to let this new app have permission.

Hope that helps you all out.

Don't know what is going on. Sorry all if you can't get on. Or if you do get on it and it isn't pretty. I am trying to figure it out.  This happened once before and then it just came back. I think we maybe using to much data for our free account.  I have reported the problem to webs.

I hope you all had a wonderful New Year and wish all of you the best this year! What is everyone looking forward to this year?

Any ideas on what you would like to see from our guild? I see there is an interest in a challenge activity. I will have that up and ready for the next meeting. I will send out more about our meeting, shortly. My hope for this year is that our guild will grow and that we will continue have a wonderful outlet to share our creations and ideas. Looking forward to seeing you all in just a couple weeks!

Hi SacMQG members! It has been quiet around here recently. How are your holiday projects going? I have started an new thread in the forum to share. Plus it would be great if you could post them on our flickr group since we wont get to share this month for a meeting.

Here is a quick picture of my work in progress.

hexagons for christmas table runner

I am making some pillows and a table runner. I can't wait to finish. Hopefully this weekend or next week during my time off.

Since I get a winter break I am hoping to do some sewing. Anyone interested in joining? We could even do an online sew share time. I am trying to add chat to our website and I think I just got the mobile site up and running. Let me know if either of these are or are not working for you all.

Have a sew fabulous time all!
