If our guild decides to join as an affiliate guild of the Modern Quilt Guild, we’ll need to establish formal by-laws for our group. We’ve drafted a starting point for a potential new guild. We’ve tried to preserve aspects of our current group that seem to resonate with everyone and keep this document as straight forward as possible.

As we make our decisions on whether to join, these by-laws may give you an idea of what a new guild could look like. If you’re interested, take a look. Click this link to read.

As you read, keep in mind that this is only our starting point. There are still many opportunities to bring up your suggestions. There are a few sections we already have on our radar as areas where we want more input. Give a good look to

2.3 Friends of the Guild

    • Do you like this additional way to participate with a Guild?
    • Do you think we need this level of participation?

3.2 Executive Board Positions

    • Are there any responsibilities we’ve overlooked that we may want to assign to a position?
    • Are there additional positions that may be necessary to the success of a Guild?
    • How many officers should we have in total?

3.5 Executive Board Elections

    • Any experience with elections in other groups that you’re affiliated with?
    • Is there a process that you think works really well?
    • What should a Nominating Committee do?

If you’ll be at our September meeting, we’ll be delving into some of these questions during the meeting. If you won’t, you can still participate. Send your feedback to [email protected]. We look forward to your input!
