I grew up sewing and crafting alongside my mom and grandma, and have continued to explore different aspects of the fiber arts. My first foray into modern quilting came in 2005 when I wanted to make a quilt for my nephew, but knew a traditional quilt just wouldn’t fit my sister-in-law’s modern aesthetic, nor my desire to make something special and different. Fumbling through quilt books at the fabric store in search of something that might work, I stumbled upon Kaffe Fassett’s “Passionate Patchwork” and was blown away. I was inspired, and made “Optical Squares,” for my nephew, followed by another of Fassett’s designs for a friend. Since then I’ve made a few more quilts incorporating more of my own ideas.
